Edmonton: gay-friendly destination for LGBTQ travel

Edmonton is the capital of the province of Alberta, located an hour and a half drive north of where I grew up! It’s said to be Canada’s youngest and fastest-growing city, where one in ten residents are students. It’s famous for its beautiful river valley park system, the North Saskatchewan River Valley, and having the biggest shopping mall in North America. My boyfriend and I spent a couple days there checking it out during an unusually cold spring, but our experience will give you a good idea of what it would be like to visit in the winter at least!

You can see the first episode of our trip (above) which included the Matrix HotelRevolution Cycle Fat Bike TourLunch at District CafeArt Gallery of Alberta, and Dinner at MEAT.

The second episode (below) includes the Meterra HotelExplore Old StrathconaLunch at PipRiver Valley Adventure Co. Segway Tour, and Dinner at Rostizado.

Our itinerary was put together with help from Tourism Edmonton and here are some of the photos I shared on Instagram from the area:

We also did a video at our first hotel where we talked with local YouTubers The Terra Nova Boys (Wil & Adam) about what it’s like to be a gay couple in Edmonton. And another video from our second hotel where I asked if I should carry a gun while traveling so be sure to check those out too! Subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re there for more fun videos from our travels designed for the LGBT traveler to find new and safe places to visit!
