VACAYA had its inaugural cruise for the LGBTQ community and I was lucky enough to be one of the people on board! I had been on one gay cruise before, but that was in Europe and with my partner, so this was my first time doing a cruise of any sort in North America and on my own. It was such a fun experience as you can see in the highlights of what they call the hottest LGBT+ cruise of the summer in the video above. It started and ended in New York, but went to Saint John, Bar Harbor, and Provincetown!
They have a number of other LGBT vacations coming up which you can see on the MyVacaya website and I’m hoping to go on another one of their trips again too. Their next one is actually in an all-inclusive resort so that’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t particularly like being on a boat and wants to have even more things included like drinks and spa experiences! One of my favourite things about these kind of trips though is the people who you meet. There are hundreds or thousands of other gay (and bisexual, lesbian, transgender, etc) who are on vacation and ready to mingle!
During this cruise I sat down with a single guy and a married couple to discuss the differences between doing it alone (when you don’t have a partner at home and when you do) and doing it with your husband. Thanks to Michael & Matt and Ravi for being in my video and being so much fun to hang out with during this trip!
Here are some of the photos that I shared on my Instagram account from the cruise and places we stopped at along the way:
