Visiting Switzerland during Zurich Pride!

I first went to Switzerland during a camping trip that toured around to about a dozen different European countries in the span of less than a month. I was in my early 20’s and joined some other travelers from around the world on a bus for a bit of an economical “taster” of what Europe was like. Afterwards when people would ask me which the most beautiful country was I’d always say Switzerland. Even though I only spent a couple days there I was really taken aback by the beautiful scenery as we drove through it. So when I had a chance to go back in my early 40’s and actually spend a more substantial amount of time there, plus travel around it on train, and stay in beautiful hotels – it was an easy decision to make!

While I was there Zurich Pride was also taking place so I got to walk in the parade with my Mr. Gay Canada sash! It made for a great end to my trip which was focused on the French and German speaking areas of the country. I shared some highlights in real time through my Instagram stories, which I’ve put together into a video here since they disappeared after 24 hours:

If you haven’t already though be sure to check out the main video/episode at the top of this post, which was shared on YouTube, my Facebook page and IGTV. There was so much to document during this tip, but the video still gives a relatively quick and thorough overview of the places I got visit, which include:

I of course also took some photos while I was there as well and here are some of the ones I shared from the trip on my Instagram account:

I flew direct to Zurich from Vancouver (and back) on Air Canada and I traveled around in Switzerland with a Swiss Travel Pass. Special thanks to Switzerland Tourism for helping to coordinate my trip! It was so nice to be able to fly in both directions without a stopover and being able to experience Switzerland with one pass that included trains, busses, and boats was really convenient. I wish more countries had a system like that – it was great to be able to just move from one mode of transportation to another, all over the country, with one single pass!

Thanks for reading about (and watching) my visit to Switzerland! A new episode bringing you along with me on my journey as Mr. Gay Canada is uploaded every week or two, along with other videos in between, so be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel for more and turn on the notifications (just click on the bell icon after clicking on the Subscribe button) to be alerted as soon as my new videos go up!
