Salt Spring Island: gay-friendly destination for LGBTQ travel

Salt Spring Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia between mainland British Columbia and Vancouver Island. It has a mild climate and relaxed vibe where people go to the beach, do yoga, make artisan food products, enjoy the arts and music scenes, and eat yummy food. It makes for a nice getaway for a gay couple like us and we had got up to some fun (and tasty) adventures while we were there!

As you can see in the video above, we went to the Salt Spring Inn, had breakfast at the Tree House Cafe, rode an e-bicycle from Salt Spring Adventure Co, went on a Gallery Walking Tour (including Steffich Fine Art, Studio 8, and Waterfront Gallery), and had dinner at Auntie Pesto’s. To get there I initially took the V to V Ferry from Vancouver to Victoria to speak at a conference and then BC Ferries from Victoria to Salt Spring Island.

Thanks to Salt Spring Tourism for helping out with our itinerary and here are some of the photos I shared on Instagram from the area:

I also did a video from my hotel room where I talked about my experience when I got to interview my favorite singer in the world! Check out the video to find out the story of how it all happened. It was a bit of a dream come true moment! Subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re there for more fun videos from our travels because we feature new destinations all the time that are especially good for other gay solo travelers and couples like ourselves!
