A gay couple in the Quebec countryside and townships

As a gay traveller your first thought of a visit to the province of Quebec is probably going to Montreal. It’s of course a vibrant and exciting city that’s well liked by members of the LGBTQ community, but there is of course much more to see outside of Montreal too – and that’s exactly what my partner and I did on our recent visit to la bell province.

We spent our time in the regions of Montérégie and the Eastern Townships, just south of Montreal. We found everything to be friendly with us, almost everyone had a good enough understanding of English that we could easily communicate with them, and there weren’t any issues with us being a gay couple.

These photos were shared on Instagram and the video at the top is from my YouTube channel. As you can see the trip was full of relaxation, nature, and of course some romance!

The episode of our visit is also airing on OUTtv, Canada’s national LGBTQ TV station, between their regular programming. If you’re one of the 1.2 million Canadians who have that station then you’ll be able to see on your TV the places where we stayed, the restaurants where we ate, and everything else we got up to, which includes these places:

StromSpa
Nord Restaurant
Cidrerie Michel Jodoin
La cache du Lac-Champlain
Le Greg Bistro & Bar
Noah Spa
Le Tire-Bouchon Restaurant at Orpailleur winery
Vignoble du ruisseau
Bleu Lavande
Ferme Au Pied Levé
Kayaking on Cherry River
Bistro Koz
Mount Sutton
Le Pleasant Hôtel
Sutton Brouerie

This was a really nice getaway that was both relaxing and interesting as we travelled around the two regions. We didn’t stay overnight in the same town twice so we actually covered quite a bit of ground in a short amount of time. We certainly enjoyed our visit so the next time you find yourself heading to Montreal you might just want to add on a few extra days before or after to check it out too!

Substance abuse in my community of bisexual queer women is on the rise. Although one cant blame us for it entirely. Coming out is hard and stressful.
